		<description>OLD SELECTED PROJECTS---------------

WORDS FROM SILENCE 2006
Website, SMS, public space projections

An online multimedia project (beta) where the objective is to possibilitate to the people the communication and the expression of their feelings, thinkings,.. This project appears like an answer to the alienation and loneliness of the big cities/metropolis.

You can insert your thinkings, emotions,. at the website. These messages will be spread by SMS to all the people that has inserted their telephone number at the website.
The texts were projected at the streets of the city, in this case Barcelona, with the poems, feelings,.. inserted previously at the website.

URBAN BUILDING DISSECTION 2006
Multimedia/interactive project

Project based in the analysis of an urban building at the city of Barcelona. I analyze the building at two levels. The outside of the building, physical/Architectural. And the inside, full of lives, histories, feelings,.. of its inhabitants.

We find different histories of the residents of the building. A girl who prostitutes herself for buy expensive things, the old couple with a "interesting" sexual life, the girl who is waiting for her lover,.. different histories that make us to think about the second level of the buildings and ourselves, full of histories, secrets,..

The work of Jose Val del Omar, (Granada 1904 - Madrid 1982) has no limits. Extraordinary
creator, poet, inventor, filmmaker, musician,.. defined by himself as a cinemista, cinema
alchemist. He was a contemporary of Federico García Lorca, Cernuda, Miguel Hernandez, Renau... generation razed by the Spanish Civil War and the Franco regime.

Believer in the cinema, always was an early visionary, beginning with the projections being
made when he was a child under her bed in the style of the magic lantern with candles and
colored glass, reaching experiment at the end of his life with holography, video , and laser.
Tireless researcher, he develope large amounts of audio and visual devices: the variable-angle
lens and apanorámic projection, the Picto-Lumínica-Audio-Touch apanorámic, .. an even larger
list of projects, apparently delirious, never made (Optical Bionic Energy Cycle, touch-screen...)

He patents a Diafonic sound, in anticipation of the structures of surround sound.
He shoots the film Aguaespejo Granadino/Granada´s watermirror (1953-1955) the first of its
Elemental triptych of Spain, showing it at the festivals in Berlin and Brussels. Subsequently
creates Fuego en Castilla/Fire in Castile (1956-1959) where he introduces his techniques of
TactilVisión and Pulsed Light touch, being honored at festivals in Cannes, Bilbao 1961 and
Melbourne 1962. In 1961 begins the last of his trilogy: Acarino Galaico(del barro)/ Acarino
Galaico (from mud), which left unfinished.

"'Clip Kino' events are self-organised screening events of short video clips &#38; documentaries found online. It aims to drag aspects of normalised 'private' activity - of viewing downloaded content on one's own computer - into public space for screening, appreciation and debate. 'Media-environmental awareness' applies to include the social ecology of one's interests, desires, and attentions in one's peer-group and community."

Jon Irigoyen (ES/FI) presents….Cyberpunk
The Cyberpunk world is a dark and sinister place where computers control all aspects of human life and corporations have replaced governments. In this high tech and low life world, where urban spaces have become chaotic and violence has become the tool for survival, some people live outside of society. Lovers of freedom, physical or mental, and illegal anti-heroes move within this dystopian society, where there is a constant struggle to understand and learn that their lives are in the hands of the others.

In this projection we will present an array of information, soundtracks and images that are related to this literary trend that emerged in the '80s. Some of the many interpretations of this trend will also be included. Is it a coincidence that in William Gibson´s novel, “Neuromancer” (1984), the word MICROSOFT is used to define a cybernetic implant behind the ear?

EXHIBITION

The exhibition “Intimate Immensity” explores the idea of home and its emotional relationship with the individual. In his book, “The Poetics of Space”, Gaston Bachelard expresses that the concept of home is composed of both memories and images.

We have all experienced these memories and images in each home that we have lived in and will experience them in the homes we are going to live in, allowing us to dream in peace.

Through different artworks, such as video, installations and photographs, the idea of home is explored in relation to the space in which it is being exhibited. A home gallery space allows us to understand and enter a little more deeply into the strong personal relationships that we create and develop as our primary protection, our resting universe.

Bachelard states: “... with the image of the house we have a true principle of psychological integration. Examined from the most diverse theoretical horizons, it seems that the image of the house was the topography of our intimate being".

Musterzimmer invited curator Jon Irigoyen to create the second of his home-based exhibitions, following the first one, “Private Universes”, shown in Helsinki 2011. At the inauguration, curator Jon Irigoyen will be present with artist Dénes Farkas (HUN), who will be representing Estonia in its pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia 2013.

You are warmly invited to experiment and research this intimate immensity we call home.

Welcome.

                                                                  Jon Irigoyen 2012

Revisiting the history of the construction of Kulttuuritalo, Domènec and Irigoyen’s project aims to recover the memories of the numerous passionate workers and volunteers who participated in the collective construction of this symbol of modernism and icon of the Finnish labour movement. At the same time, the exhibition addresses the historical gap between the era when Kulttuuritalo was commissioned by the SKP, and the present moment, when the building has been transformed into an architectural monument stripped of its ideological ‘baggage’. This attempt to revisit the past prompts reflections on the collapse of the modern project and on the way we experience historical time.

Kulttuuritalo, a cultural complex housing a concert hall, offices, a theatre and a library, was commissioned by the SKP (Communist Party of Finland), and largely built by volunteers. The exhibition focuses on the volunteer workers, trade unionists and families who responded to the SKP’s call to build a “house for all workers” and gave more than 500,000 hours of their lives to the realisation of the project.

A workshop about the memory of the city inside URB Festival, KIASMA Museum.

"In one way or another, much of human activity today is associated with maps and mapping. But what happens if we move maps away from the topographical perspective, towards an autobiographical one? What if we map memories and experiences instead of geography or landmarks?"
                                                                               Jon Irigoyen

In this workshop all together we create an emotional cartography which will help us to appropriate urban space. These places and experiences will be marked in an online map, creating an emotional map of the city of Helsinki, and making it more ours.

We talk, discuss, learn different online cartographic software to map and we develope different research lines about the memory of the city, seeing the city as past, present and future.

As well, a small walk through the urban space helps us to understand the goal of the workshop.

Abandoned Mystery is a Multi/Inter/Trans/Cross/Non-disciplinary Expedition pilot project on exploring the constitution of the phenomena of abandoned military sites of the European edges in the Baltic Sea area.

Fluctuating between art, (social) science, history, anthropology, architecture mythology and involving different types of cross-disciplinary mutants, detectives and innovators from the field of: acoustic, architecture, psycho-mytho-geography, critical cartography and not-yet-defined, the project seeks to explore those mysterious locations and study their inner logic as an interaction between nature, people, ancient, contemporary, past and future.

My projects, through an edited poster, investigate 3 different research lines: PEOPLE, USE OF SPACE and MEMORY/REALITY.

RESEARCH LINES

PEOPLE: Photographic and text documentation about different people I met during the trips.

&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/people2 sin texto.jpg" width="670" height="384" width_o="1988" height_o="1142" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/people2 sin texto_o.jpg" data-mid="18568371"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/peoplee1 txiki sin texto.jpg" width="670" height="364" width_o="1500" height_o="816" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/peoplee1 txiki sin texto_o.jpg" data-mid="18568378"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

USE OF SPACE: Investigation through 2 interventions in the space of these abandoned places, where the historical meaning of the place has been subverted by the intense usage of that space by local inhabitants.
&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/space1.jpg" width="670" height="271" width_o="2048" height_o="829" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/space1_o.jpg" data-mid="18467692"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/space2.jpg" width="670" height="264" width_o="2048" height_o="808" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/space2_o.jpg" data-mid="18467703"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

MEMORY/REALITY: Questioning the reality of the concept of “History”. How can we confirm If the "official history" is real, that hasn't been manipulated for speci_c interests. Through these expeditions we enter in contact with those real spaces, allowing us to understand, discuss and rewrite the history.&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/memory1.jpg" width="670" height="256" width_o="2048" height_o="784" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/memory1_o.jpg" data-mid="18467890"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;&#60;img src="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/memory2.jpg" width="670" height="250" width_o="2048" height_o="766" src_o="http://payload63.cargocollective.com/1/0/25163/3568804/memory2_o.jpg" data-mid="18467893"  border="0" align="left"/&#62;

<description>Organization of the screening where Vladislav Delay created the live soundtrack for the film “I hired a contract killer”, from finnish film director AKI KAURISMAKI. In this movie the city and the relation between the public and private space have a special importance in the development and plot of the film.

Date: Sunday 28.3.2010

Time: 18-19h

Location: KIASMA Theatre

Vladislav Delay will perform a live soundtrack to the film “I hired a contract killer” by cult Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, also known for his morbid comedy hits Leningrad Cowboys Go America (1994) and The Match Factory Girl (1990). The marriage of Ripatti’s music with Kaurismäki’s images promises to be an intriguing mix, not least since both are Finnish artists, but also as to the guise that Ripatti might take. Ripatti is billed as ‘Vladislav Delay aka Luomo’ which could mean anything given his distinct creative approach for each identity.
